Heat Wave Turns Bryant Park Christmas Market into a Summer Fest

Heat Wave Turns Bryant Park Christmas Market into a Summer Fest.

New York City’s Bryant Park Winter Village opened with an unusual twist this year, as temperatures soared to 80°F. Typically a winter wonderland, the park’s ice rink and holiday market have drawn New Yorkers in tank tops, giving a summer vibe to the festive scene. Visitors like Maria Kalinina from Paris expressed surprise, saying the warm weather dampened the Christmas ambiance, while others embraced the novelty of ice skating under sunny skies.

Families, including Lindsey Christensen and her daughter, tried to enjoy seasonal activities, although the high temperatures made it feel more like a summer day. Vendors have adjusted by offering cool drinks and snacks: The Lodge bar introduced an apple cider spritz, now a customer favorite, while the S’mores N’More stand rolled out cold hot chocolate. “It’s nice to adapt to our surroundings,” said vendor Sharon Tong, highlighting the creative adjustments in response to the warm weather.

Despite the heat, visitors and locals alike are making the most of the unexpected twist to their holiday traditions, bringing a unique energy to the iconic Bryant Park Christmas Market.
